Two Role-Playing Games Dominate the Weekly Steam Charts

Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered shadow drop made a huge impact on the weekly Steam charts (by revenue) from 22 to 29 April, taking the top spot with an impressive 216,784 CCU peak, the fourth highest for a Bethesda game on Steam, even though the remaster is also included in the Xbox Game Pass.

In third place, both worldwide and in Germany, is the critically acclaimed Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 from Sandfall Interactive in France and publisher Kepler Interactive. The JRPG peaked at almost 52,000 CCU on its release day, the highest ever for a Kepler game, and on Sunday the game shot up to 121,422 CCU, thanks in part to strong word of mouth and despite being included in Xbox Game Pass. This means that there are two role-playing games in the top three of the charts. Of particular note was the launch of The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy-, a mix of visual novel and strategy RPG, which entered the charts at number 17 worldwide and number 76 in Germany.

In Germany, Tempest Rising, published by 3D Realms and Knights Peak (My.Games), remains in the top ten at number 6, while the RTS slips to number 19 worldwide. Pax Augusta, developed by Swiss solo developer Roger Gassmann and published by Frankfurt-based Senatis, is no longer in the top 100 in either region. On the other hand, Farming Simulator 25 from Giants Software celebrates its return to the German charts at number 16.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds from Jagex, which was second in the global charts and fourth in Germany last week, slips into the second half of the charts as updates reignite interest in other free-to-play titles. Forza Horizon 5's rise in the German Steam charts is also due to an update (as well as its release on PlayStation 5) and a sales promotion.
