shapez 2 to be Released in Early Access in mid-August
TobSpr Games will release the factory building game shapez 2 in Early Access in mid-August 2024. The game is currently ranked 96th on Steam's most wishlisted list.
If all goes according to plan, tobSpr Games from Aachen is aiming to release shapez 2 in Early Access for PC in mid-August. "We are now aiming to launch in Mid August. This is around 97% confirmed so while we are pretty certain, please don't be mad if we have to reschedule it," CEO Tobias Springer and the development team wrote on Steam. "Generally, we think the game is in great shape with plenty of polish already! There are so many improvements over the first game that shapez 1 now feels more like a prototype for shapez 2."
At the moment, shapez 2 is ranked 96th on the list of the most wanted games on Steam. In February 2024, the game had already passed the 260,000 wishlists mark. With multi-level factories, conveyor belts, trains, fluids, blueprints and more, shapez 2 is a factory building game that focuses on just that. It is tailored for "enthusiasts who crave the thrill of optimizing production lines and perfecting automation," the developers say.
Tobias Springer is very confident about the status of the current version, especially in terms of technical aspects, i.e. stability and performance. "The game is very stable and you shouldn't see much in the way of crashes. However, it’s not impossible that you will encounter some issues with DirectX 11. If that does happen, you can try switching to Vulkan or DirectX12. (...) We are already very satisfied with the rendering performance, and we are constantly improving the simulation performance, with the ultimate goal of simulating around 500k-1 million buildings well. To put that in perspective, you need about 15k to complete the game, and currently we can simulate around 100-200k."
However, not all features will be implemented by the time of the Early Access launch. There will be some placeholder visuals, and vertical inputs/outputs for pipes and wires will still require a lot of development. Later on there will be more blueprint options, sound improvements and Steam Workshop integration.
