GDC Meets Expectations and Announces Date for 2025

Ahead of the event, Informa predicted that the GDC would attract 30,000 visitors. This was achieved, and the GDC was a success in other ways too. There is also a date for 2025, for which delegations from GSA will presumably be travelling again.
Nearly 30,000 people from all over the world attended the Game Developer Conference (GDC) 2024, according to the organisers' summary. This meant that just as many visitors attended as the organisers had expected (in German) in advance. In total, there were over 1000 speakers at the conference, taking part in 730 sessions, workshops and panels. Over 300 companies used the exhibition to showcase their products and services to the international game development community.
"GDC exists to give developers a space to meet, network and learn. The need for that connection has never been more urgent. We were gratified to witness first-hand as aspiring developers and veteran game makers convened to share their knowledge and ambitions to create the amazing games that we will enjoy in the years ahead," said Stephenie Hawkins, GDC Event Director.
Highlights of this year's GDC included the Game Developers Choice Awards and the Independent Games Festival (IGF) Awards. From the GSA's point of view, the joint stands in the exhibition area were particularly important. This year, 17 companies presented a total of 24 games in the German Pavilion. The SwissGames booth brought eight studios to San Francisco. Both delegations have been an integral part of the GDC for years and are likely to be there again in 2025. The GDC will then take place from 17 to 21 March, as Informa also announced. Unsurprisingly, the industry will once again gather at the Moscone Centre in San Francisco.
