"We are delighted that the outstanding work of the Games Lift teams is not only appreciated by us but also by award juries, other funding bodies, publishers, and the press - and of course by the fact that the first funded projects have been successfully released. This is a great confirmation for us: the Games Lift Incubator works", comments Margarete Schneider, Project Manager at Gamecity Hamburg.

In the past five funding rounds, Gamecity Hamburg has supported 25 games start-ups and developers in the Games Lift Incubator. Three games from the first Games Lift year 2020 have already been released: Crumbling by Ole Jürgensen, Leif's Adventure: Netherworld Hero by OneManOnMars and Ninja Brigade by Impawsible Games. At the Deutscher Computerspielpreis (German Computer Game Award) and the Deutscher Entwicklerpreis (German Game Developer Award), Games Lift teams received awards for Best Newcomers/Best Prototypes, including Light of Atlantis by Duck'n'Run Games, Misgiven by Symmetry Break Studio, and Map Map - A Game About Maps by Pipapo Games.

A panel of industry experts will select the participating teams: Kristin von der Wense (Publishing Producer Daedalic Entertainment), Ole Schaper (Gaming Industry Executive & Founder Kyna Games), Tobias Graff (CEO and Co-Founder Mooneye Studios), Heiko Gogolin (Managing Director Rocket Beans Entertainment) and Margarete Schneider (Project Manager Gamecity Hamburg).

The "Games Lift Insights" online event on 8 May at 14:00 will provide a first glimpse of what the participating teams can expect from the Incubator's workshop programme. Cassia Curran, strategy and business development consultant for indie games and part of the Games Lift network, will give an introduction to market analysis for indie games. The Gamecity team will also provide information about Games Lift and the application process.
