Star Birds by [Toukana Interactive](/company/toukana-interactive) and kurzgesagt – in a nutshell is being released for PC today for €19.99 ([Steam](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2719750/Star_Birds/)). The game is expected to remain in Early Access for around a year. [Originally scheduled](https://www.gamesmarket.global/games-and-products/silksonged-toukana-interactive-delays-star-birds-due-to-hollow-knight-811047e9b234ed1f72aaea56328aa0f7) for release on 4 September, Star Birds was postponed by a week due to Hollow Knight: Silksong.

By the summer, Toukana's game had already attracted a lot of attention. A demo was released in June, attracting over 200,000 players and receiving an average rating of 95% on Steam, based on nearly 1,500 reviews. This success propelled the game into the top 100 most wishlisted games.

The current Early Access version is said to offer a stable and smooth experience. Toukana: "Content-wise the EA version goes far beyond what the demo offered and steps up the complexity. At launch, you'll be able to play two full star systems, with many levels each, as well as experience the first part of the story campaign. You'll be able to build many different buildings and production networks of varying complexity, energy networks with different sources and explore many more asteroids, now with ice caps and plateaus." The full version will include more content, such as buildings, asteroids with 'things' on them and star systems, as well as new features, additional polish, quality of life features and more cutscenes. The story campaign will also continue. When the full version (1.0) is finally released, the game's price will increase slightly.

Star Birds is a relaxing asteroid base-building and resource management game. Players help a population of spacefaring birds to prosper and thrive. It is developed by Toukana Interactive and kurzgesagt - in a nutshell - both from Germany. This is the second game from Berlin-based studio Toukana Interactive, following Dorfromantik.
