One year after the release of Mortal Kombat 1, Warner Bros. Games is releasing the expansion Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns. It includes the next phase of the story mode, which focuses on peace, anarchy and bloody battles, as well as the addition of the Kombat Pack 2, which includes six playable characters.

To date, the game has sold over 4 million copies worldwide. This makes the reboot not quite as successful as the last game in the franchise, Mortal Kombat 11 (2019). That game is the most successful title in the franchise, with more than 15 million copies sold worldwide.
