Fraudsters are apparently trying to exploit gamescom for financial gain. The event organizers have used a newsletter to inform recipients about fraudulent calls and emails currently circulating. Criminals are impersonating gamescom employees and sending fake invoices that closely resemble official ones. Their apparent goal is to trick companies into making payments to fraudulent bank accounts.
