Tokyo Indie Games Summit Doubles Attendance to Over 23,000
With the Tokyo Indie Games Summit, another standout business event is emerging in Japan, where over 200 curated indie games were exhibited. An award was also presented for the first time.
A few weeks after the third Tokyo Indie Games Summit (TIGS), organizer Phoenixx has now released the official figures for the event. According to the data, the two-day festival, which was held on 8 and 9 March at Musashino Public Hall in Kichijoji, attracted a total of 23,802 visitors. This is more than double the attendance of the previous year, which drew around 9,000 visitors.
More than 200 curated indie games were showcased during the event. For the first time, a competition was also held, supported by the broadcaster BS Asahi. The grand prize was awarded to One Turn Kill by Waku Waku Games. Additionally, developers 7Quark (Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade) and ChaoGames (DevilConnection) each received an Excellence Award.
“Seeing the amazing energy of creators and fans from all over come together in Kichijoji was truly inspiring,” said Kazunori Sakamoto, founder of Phoenixx. “We are immensely grateful for the growth of TIGS, and are putting plans in place to ensure 2026 is our biggest year to date. Stay tuned for what’s next!”
The Tokyo Indie Games Summit is supported by a number of prominent Japanese companies, including Sony Interactive Entertainment. The organisers are working with international event partners such as gamescom latam, the India Gaming Show, and the Global Game Jam.
Phoenixx, the organiser behind TIGS, was founded in 2019. In addition to a management team made up entirely of games industry veterans, Phoenixx counts the Dentsu Group and Bandai Namco Entertainment among its major shareholders.
