F1 23 wins sales award
With only one new sales award this year, August shows its weak side. Only Electronic Arts' F1 23 managed to win a gold prize, although it did so later than in previous years.
Summer is not exactly known for its spectacular sales figures for games. However, the fact that only one game was awarded a sales prize in August is particularly sobering, given that games were celebrated in Cologne in a way not seen for a long time. In the end, however, only Electronic Arts' F1 23 managed to surpass the 100,000 units sold mark within a year of release, which is the equivalent of a Gold Award. The current edition of the Formula 1 racing game has thus achieved its goal, as titles in the F1 series have always been good for at least one Gold Award. However, the last time the criteria were met was in August 2019. In 2020, 2021 and 2022, the game reached 100,000 sales in July, much sooner after release. In 2020, sales even climbed over the 200,000 mark in the course of September.
