Since 2022, Katrin Bauerfeind and Uke Bosse have been the successful presenting duo for the Deutscher Computerspielpreis (DCP; German Computer Game Awards). Yet their collaboration on the award show got off to a rocky start. In the first year, Katrin Bauerfeind had to pull out at short notice after testing positive for COVID-19 and co-hosted the show via livestream from her hotel room. In the years that followed, however, the duo also impressed together on stage. And so it is only natural that Bauerfeind and Bosse will once again host a glittering evening at the Munich Residenz on 29 April, culminating in the presentation of awards in 15 categories and prize money totalling 800,000 euros.

As has been customary in previous years, a pre-show and a live stream from the Blue Carpet are also planned for this year. Content creator RayaOnAir, streamer Starlet Nova and comedian Maxi Gstettenbauer have been signed up for this year’s event.

The DCP is sponsored by the German Federal Government, represented by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space, and by game – The German Games Industry Association. The 2026 awards ceremony will take place in Munich following a call for tenders and is sponsored by the Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs.

“The German Computer Game Award is coming home to us here in Munich. As Germany’s home of games, we are very much looking forward to this ‘Finale dahoam’ and warmly welcome all nominees and guests to the banks of the Isar,” says Bavaria’s Minister for Digital Affairs, Dr Fabian Mehring.

And Dorothee Bär, Federal Minister for Research, Technology and Space, adds: “The DCP is the most visible flagship of the German games industry. Once again this year, the honour goes to the developers of the most creative, innovative and entertaining games produced in Germany. The games industry is one of the most important and economically strongest sectors of our cultural and creative industries. The industry demonstrates that it is possible to succeed from a German base even in the face of fierce international competition. To ensure this remains possible in the future, the Federal Government supports the development of games – and this year, too, there are many nominees at the DCP who have successfully realised their projects with the support of the Federal Government’s games funding scheme.”
