Deutscher Computerspielpreis Gala at the Palais Am Funkturm and During #GamesSpringBerlin
The award ceremony for the Deutscher Computerspielpreis 2025 (German Computer Game Award) will take place at the prestigious Palais am Funkturm - and for the first time there will be a nominees' lunch with the Governing Mayor of Berlin, Kai Wegner. Spotlight Games Berlin, the media.net Matchmaking Brunch and A Maze will also take place during the week of the DCP.
The Deutscher Computerspielpreis (DCP) 2025 will take place in Berlin on 14 May 2025 and the new location has been chosen: the Palais am Funkturm (Messe Berlin). The DCP will take place in the historically protected ballroom, where the Deutscher Filmpreis (German Film Award) has been presented in the past. With a new event concept, an updated stage design and space for up to 600 guests, the gala will be even more glamorous. "At the same time, the exhibition centre offers the prospect of synergies with other games-related events and should help the DCP grow into a festival highlight with real capital city DNA," says the announcement. Katrin Bauerfeind and Uke Bosse will once again host the gala evening.
On the day of the gala, Berlin's Governing Mayor Kai Wegner invites all nominees to a festive lunch at the Rotes Rathaus (Berlin's city hall). For around 100 game developers, this is an opportunity to represent themselves and the computer games industry to Berlin's political community. Kai Wegner, Governing Mayor of Berlin: "The Deutscher Computerspielpreis is back in the capital. Berlin offers the best conditions for an event of this calibre. That is why the state of Berlin wants to anchor the Deutscher Computerspielpreis in the capital for the long term. The prize is the most important award for computer and video games from Germany and sends out a strong signal for the future of the German games industry."
Helge Jürgens, Managing Director of Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, adds: "Honouring the developers of the best German games will have an even greater impact in a new location, with a new event concept and stage design! The new gala as part of our #GamesSpringBerlin shows that the DCP belongs in the capital!"
Messe Berlin is also supporting the growth of the games industry in the capital and is committed to establishing the new venue as a permanent home for the DCP. The company is supporting the organisers, game and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, as well as the sponsor, Medienboard, in making the event a reality. Dr. Mario Tobias, CEO of Messe Berlin: "Messe Berlin is delighted to be the venue for the Deutscher Computerspielpreis for the first time and to expand its portfolio of events to include the games industry. Together with the Governing Mayor of Berlin, Kai Wegner, and his deputy, the Senator for Economics, Franziska Giffey, we are supporting this dynamic sector, which is one of the most important and relevant pillars of the media industry in the German capital. The gala at the Palais am Funkturm will give the DCP a new lustre and increased production value."
The DCP is also embedded in a number of games events (#GamesSpringBerlin). On 14 May, the second edition of Spotlight Games Berlin, curated by Medienboard, will once again focus on the most important topics in the games industry. The event for developers, publishers and politicians offers panels and networking. On 15 May, media.net berlinbrandenburg will host its annual Matchmaking Brunch. Berlin's indie games festival A Maze. takes place from 14 to 17 May.
