Nordic Game 2025 Spring With Greater German Presence
In just under two months, Nordic Game 2025 Spring will take place in Malmö and the programme is taking shape. There will be a trio of Indiana Jones talks, Blizzard's Hazzikostas will be on stage, and the nominees for the NG Awards have been announced. The German presence is larger than in previous years.
The German presence at Nordic Game 25 Spring will be expanded compared to last year. There will be a German pavilion on the expo floor, hosted by Gamecity Hamburg and medianet berlinbrandenburg, showcasing games from their regions. In addition, there will be a special reception courtesy of medianet berlinbrandenburg and Baden-Württemberg International, and a roll call of German industry heavyweights such as Fishlabs, Innogames, and Remote Control Productions will lock down their spots.
The NG25 Spring speaker lineup continues to take shape. Blizzard Entertainment's Creative Director Ion Hazzikostas has signed on for the session titled "20 Years of World of Warcraft: Meeting Players Where They Are". Swedish developer MachineGames will provide insight into the development process of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The spotlight will first shine on a fireside chat with the studio's Creative Director Axel Torvenius and Design Director Jens Andersson, and later in the NG25 Spring program, MachineGames' cinematics and level design leads will take the stage to offer deep dives into their respective crafts. Among the speakers are Peter Molyneux, Junae Benne, Ben Fisher (Rebellion), Thorbjørn Nielsen (Guidelight Games) and Josef Fares (Hazelight), who will be interviewed live on stage by Kim Nordström.
Matilda Smedius, the voice of Overwatch heroine Brigitte, will host the main stage at NG25 Spring. As part of her duties as host, she will present the annual Nordic Game Awards, which this year will take place as the very last session in the main conference program on 22 May. The nominees for the awards have just been announced. Nominated for Nordic Game of the Year are Snufkin: Melody of Moominvalley by Hyper Games (Norway), Helldivers 2 by Arrowhead Game Studios (Sweden), Satisfactory by Coffee Stain Studios (Sweden), Indiana Jones and the Great Circle by Machinegames (Sweden), Finnish Cottage Simulator by Ranela Games (Finland) and Skald: Against the Black Priory by High North Studios (Norway). The list of all nominated games in the eight categories can be found here.
The first day of the conference (20 May) will also focus on audio in game development. This includes Oskar Hansson, voice designer at Massive Entertainment, who will reveal "secrets" about creating the pet companion Nix for Star Wars Outlaws, Martin Halldin from Swedish horror game studio Wrong Organ, who will talk about composing music and SFX for their game Mouthwashing, and the Nordic Game composer panel "Same Game, Different Music".
On 20-23 May, NG25 Spring will take place online and at the Slaghuset in Malmö, Sweden.
