To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Sega and The Creative Assembly unveiled major additions to the Total War franchise. Announced were Total War: Medieval III and the Total War: Warhammer III - Lords of the End Times expansion. A third title was teased and is set to be unveiled at The Game Awards on 11 December. This title will be the next major release in the Total War series and represents one of the franchise's most ambitious projects to date. Last but not least, Warcore is the next evolution of their proprietary game engine. In a first for the franchise, it will enable future games to be released on PlayStation and Xbox.

Total War: Medieval III is the return to the franchise's historical roots, and it is now in the early stages of pre-production. "Built as the ultimate medieval strategy sandbox, it will empower players to shape realms, rewrite history, and immerse themselves in the Middle Ages like never before. Combining meticulous historical authenticity with unprecedented player agency, this is more than a sequel, it's the rebirth of historical Total War", said the developers.

To coincide with the series' 10th anniversary, the Total War: Warhammer III: Lords of The End Times Expansion will introduce four new Legendary Lords to the Immortal Empires campaign experience in summer 2026. One of these Lords is the great necromancer Nagash, who returns to reclaim his lost power and drown the world in undeath. The arrival of these new lords also heralds the free End Times Update. Drawing inspiration from the lore, players will encounter a transformed campaign experience, complete with apocalyptic scenarios and cataclysmic events. Total War: Warhammer III's Immortal Empires campaign is also now available to Warhammer I & II players free of charge.

Vice President of Total War, Roger Collum: "It's incredible to think Total War is 25 years old. We’re extremely grateful that we get to make games that our community get to play for decades, and without them we wouldn’t be here. This year was a moment where all Total War fans; old or new, historical or fantasy, could come together and celebrate the exciting next chapter in our story. Here's to 25 more years!"
