Although she has only been in office for a few days, Dorothee Bär already had some good news for the games industry at the DCP when she announced the reorganisation of a dedicated games department, which will be based in her ministry (we reported). As expected, the plan has met with an open ear and a positive response from the industry.

"Many thanks to Research Minister Dorothee Bär for wanting to set up an independent, strong games department in her ministry," says Felix Falk, Managing Director of game. "This is a good start to the new legislative period and an important prerequisite for achieving the new federal government's ambitious goals for making Germany a stronger games location."

The association and the industry are expecting a lot from the new government after games funding recently stalled in the coalition of traffic lights and plans for a tax-based funding model failed to make progress, even though there was a broad consensus in German politics about the need for it.

The current Medienbarometer2025 for Berlin and Brandenburg, which was presented in Berlin, shows just how high the expectations for such a model are.
