UK Gouvernment Petition Demands Steps Against Payment Processors

A new petition by James Baillie demands action of the UK gouvernment against payment processor's hold on adult games. The petition reached 50 per cent of its needed signatures in the first days. If it succeeds, UK gouvernment will have to respond.
A new gouvernment petition in the United Kingdom is asking the UK gouvernment to step in in the fight against payment processor mandated delisting of adult content. The petition demands that “Government should legislate that payment processing companies may not place stipulations on use of their services regarding sales of otherwise legal content and, if they do so, must face legal penalties and must remunerate platforms and individuals for lost income until service is restored.”
Since the petition is hosted on the UK’s official petition platform, the gouvernment has to respond to it as soon as it reaches 10,000 signatures. The petition has broken half of this alone over the first weekend, currently standing at 5,200 signatures. If the petition reaches 100,000 signatures, it must be considered for debate in parliament.
The petition was started by games researcher James Baillie. It will run for six months until 26 February 2026 before its success in reaching enough people will be assessed.
