Radical Fish Games has announced that its second game, Alabaster Dawn, will be released on 7 May 2026 in Early Access. The Saarbrücken-based studio, best known for their critically acclaimed retro-inspired 2D action RPG CrossCode (2018), made this announcement at yesterday's Triple-I Showcase. Radical Fish Games: "Early Access will continue as long as necessary until we complete the main story of the game. Since Alabaster Dawn (much like CrossCode) is ambitious in scope, we expect Early Access to go on for at least 2 years. This allows us to not rush development and to deliver a final game we can be proud of."

The initial Early Access version will include the story up to the midpoint of Chapter 2, offering around ten hours of gameplay. It will also feature an optional roguelite side story to increase replayability. The full game will comprise the complete story, spanning seven chapters, with an estimated playtime of around 40 hours. Versions for consoles will follow later.

Alabaster Dawn, which has the working title 'Project Terra', received €764,434 in funding from the German Federal Government's computer games funding programme (period: 15 February 2022 to 14 August 2025). The game is expected to be self-published by Radical Fish Games. Deck13 Spotlight was involved in publishing CrossCode.

Radical Fish Games was founded in early September 2010. Their debut game, CrossCode, was developed using JavaScript and makes use of a heavily modified Impact Engine that utilises HTML5. They started crowdfunding on Indiegogo in 2015, followed by the Early Access release in the same year. In 2018, Radical Fish Games finally released CrossCode for PC, published by Deck13 Spotlight. The game was released for consoles in 2020, and the DLC CrossCode - A New Home came out in 2021. Development of Alabaster Dawn began around the time that the last CrossCode DLC, A New Home, was released.
