CD Projekt Announces Partnership With Scopely and Provides Insight Into the Company's Production Schedule
CD Projekt Red has announced a partnership with Scopely. The company also provided a glimpse into its development pipeline and narrowed down the release window for The Witcher 4.
CD Projekt Group announced in its annual report that the Polish company has entered into a partnership with Scopely (Savvy Games Group), the company that has just acquired the games division of Niantic (excluding Ingress). No further details were given, including which IP was involved. However, it can be assumed that it will be a mobile game.
In 2024, the consolidated revenues of the CD Projekt Group reached PLN 985 Million (€236 million), with a net profit of almost PLN 470 million (-2% year-on-year; €113 million) and an EBIT of PLN 365 million (-22% year-on-year; €88 million), which means that the Group's net profitability in this period was 47.7%. These are solid results, mainly due to the continued strong sales performance of the back catalog. Sales of Cyberpunk 2077 and its expansion generated revenues of PLN 589 million (-31% year-on-year; €141 million), while The Witcher franchise accounted for PLN 163 million (+3% year-on-year; €39 million).
The games division CD Projekt Red generated revenues of PLN 802 Million (€192 million), while the digital distribution platform GOG.com generated revenues of PLN 199 million (€48 million).
"Both of our franchises wrapped up an excellent year. Naturally, the results of the CD Projekt Group are primarily driven by sales of Cyberpunk 2077: the base game, along with its Phantom Liberty expansion, generated nearly 600 million PLN in earnings. For its part, The Witcher 3 - despite 10 years having passed since its release – continues to attract attention and produces a stable revenue stream. We are very satisfied with the fact that, even in the absence of any major launch, the past year was the third best in the Group's history in terms of net profit" said Piotr Nielubowicz, CFO of CD Projekt.
As of November 2024, cumulative sales of Cyberpunk 2077 have surpassed 30 million copies, while the Phantom Liberty expansion has sold over 8 million copies. The game's Ultimate Edition will be released later this year for Mac devices equipped with Apple Silicon hardware. At the end of 2024, a new Cyberpunk animation project was also announced, which is currently in development and will be released on Netflix.
The Witcher IV has entered full production and its first cinematic trailer was unveiled at The Game Awards 2024 in Los Angeles. According to the publisher, the game received the most coverage of any title announced at The Game Awards. The data covers the 72-hour period following the show. 411 developers were working on The Witcher IV at the end of February 2025, and the company does not expect the game to be released before 2027. The Remake of The Witcher is currently in the concept phase, Project Sirius (multiplayer project) is in pre-production.
The next cyberpunk game, codenamed Orion, is in the concept phase. The dev team already includes 84 people, 20 more than at the end of October 2024. Meanwhile, 17 people are working on the concept phase of Hadar, a new IP. In addition, an unannounced project involving The Fool's Theory is still in development.
