Minecraft and Monopoly top the AppStore annual charts in Germany

Just in time for the Christmas season, Apple has analysed the most successful games and apps in its App Store for Germany. Some of the results are quite different from the US charts.

Although there are parallels between the top games of the year, with many titles making it into the top ten in both Germany and the US, there are still some notable differences. Especially when it comes to Apple arcade games. NBA 2K23 Arcade Edition tops the US list of most popular Apple Arcade Games. In Germany, however, the title is only in ninth place. In Germany, Sega's Football Manager 2024 Touch is in second place behind Bloons, which does not appear at all in the US due to the lack of interest in football. Incidentally, Bloons is in third place there. Another great success for Headup Games is the eighth place in the German Apple Arcade Charts for "Bridge Constructor+".

In the other segments, the best-selling premium games and the most downloaded free-to-play games of the year, there are two names at the top in both the US and Germany: "Minecraft and Monopoly. The latter, incidentally, is available in both versions - the premium Monopoly game from Hasbro and the free-to-play Monopoly Go! from Scopely.

Another difference is that while the mobile offshoots of well-known game brands such as "Call of Duty", "Grand Theft Auto" or "Five Nights at Freddy's" make it into the top ten in the US, adaptations such as "Uno" or titles such as "Ludi Club: Gesellschaftsspiele" or "Quiz Duell!" make it into the top ten in Germany. In the analysis of premium games for the iPad, which are not available in the USA, Giants' "Farming Simulator 2023" even made it to tenth place in the annual charts.
