Austrian Supreme Court: Lootboxes Are Not (Always) Gambling

The Austrian Supreme Court has ruled in favour of Sony and EA, stating that lootboxes in FIFA Ultimate Team aren't gambling since enough skill is involved. While that's a big setback for the players that sued, it also gives clear reference to when lootbox modes are or aren't "skill-based".

To counter the lack of skilled workers in the region, TH Köln and KölnBusiness Wirtschaftsförderung have started the Talent Hub Cologne. 2.7€ mil will flow into the project until at least 2028, mostly financed by the EU and NRW.
