Ubisoft is releasing Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora - From the Ashes just before Christmas, in time for the theatrical release of Avatar: The Way of Water. This major expansion tells a new story set in the Avatar universe.
Although Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was unable to capitalise on the theatrical release of Avatar: The Way of Water, as it was released almost a year later, the major expansion, From the Ashes, is being released to coincide with the theatrical release of Avatar: Fire and Ash. Developed by Ubisoft studio Massive Entertainment in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney, the expansion tells the story of So'lek, a battle-hardened Na'vi warrior from the Trr'ong clan, who seeks revenge and survival.
Ubisoft Studio Massive Entertainment is developing From the Ashes, with support from Ubisoft studios in Düsseldorf, Milan, Romania, Shanghai and Toronto, as well as Ubisoft Reflections.
After being attacked by the RDA and their new allies, the ruthless Ash Clan, and left for dead, So'lek awakens to find his Sarentu family scattered and his world engulfed in flames. Driven by grief and a thirst for vengeance, he embarks on a mission to find and protect his loved ones. The setting is the once lush and vibrant Kinglor Forest, now in ruins as the invaders seek to take complete control and wipe out the resistance. Armed only with a bow and a knife, So'lek stands against them. By eliminating those who oppose him, players earn experience points in the form of dog tags, enabling So'lek to enhance his combat skills in direct combat (guns blazing) and stealth through a streamlined progression system. He also demonstrates his combat efficiency with brutal takedown finishers. His ikran Ìley provides air support and tactical repositioning. Composer John Paesano, known for his work on The Maze Runner trilogy, Marvel's Daredevil, Marvel's Spider-Man games and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, has created a fitting musical score for the revenge campaign.

The expansion can be purchased separately by players who already own the base game, or as part of the new Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora - From the Ashes Edition, which includes the base game and the expansion. This edition will be available in stores from 5 December, allowing players to enjoy the main game ahead of the expansion's release on 19 December. There is also a Complete Edition, which includes the base game, the Season Pass, cosmetic items, bonus content, a digital artbook, and the From the Ashes expansion.
The game received a free update on 5 December. This included two features that had been requested by the community: a New Game+ mode and a third-person mode for both the base game and the expansion.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora - From the Ashes launches on 19 December 2025 for PC, Amazon Luna, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. It is also included in Ubisoft+.
In line with the new film, Ubisoft is expanding the surprisingly good action-adventure game.
