"Avatar" is the highest new entry in the December charts behind a well-known trio
After a month-long Call-of-Interlude, "EA Sports FC 24" returned to the top of the game charts in December 2023 in Germany. "Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora" debuts in fourth position. In total, Ubisoft has five games in the top 20.
In December 2023, "EA Sports FC 24" reclaimed the top spot in the official game charts from Germany, pushing "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III" to second place. "Hogwarts Legacy" remains third thanks to its Switch release in November. Only two December releases made it into the Top 20, both from Ubisoft, namely "Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora" in fourth place and "Just Dance 2024 Edition" in 16th position.
Picking up fifth place is the open-world classic "GTA V", which is still one of the best-selling PC and console games in Germany ten years after its release. After five years, "Red Dead Redemption 2" is also holding its ground in 7th place. Meanwhile, "Nintendo Switch Sports" re-enters the top ten shortly before Christmas, with a total of six re-entrants in places 11 to 20. "Super Mario RPG", which debuted in 10th place last month, is no longer in the top 20 in December, and "Diablo IV" is also no longer part of this list.
Five titles in the top 20 were published by Ubisoft. Electronic Arts has four games, followed by Nintendo with three. Alan Wake 2", developed by Remedy Entertainment and distributed by Epic Games Publishing, is not included in the charts as the publisher does not provide GSD with any data on the game, which is only distributed digitally. For the same reason, "Baldur's Gate 3" is also missing from the ranking.

The charts of game - Association of the German Games Industry are cross-platform and include the most frequently sold games for PCs and consoles on discs and as downloads in Germany in the respective month. The data is based on statistics from Games Sales Data (GSD), a platform from Video Games Europe (VGE), formerly the Interactive Software Federation of Europe (ISFE). Numerous retailers, publishers and digital distribution platforms such as the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Network, Steam and Xbox Live from Germany report sales figures to GSD. However, digital sales of Nintendo titles from the eShop are not included. Epic Games Publishing and Larian Studios also do not provide GSD with any sales data.
