Everspace 2 is the winner of the grand prize at the German Computer Game Awards, also known as Deutscher Computerspielpreis (DCP). Pixel Maniacs from Nuremberg named Best Studio. The most prizes were awarded to Ad Infinitum by Hekate.

The German Computer Game Awards (DCP) 2024 were presented on 18 April at Eisbach Studios in Munich in a ceremony attended by numerous guests from the industry, politics and the world beyond gaming. Rockfish Games from Hamburg was thrilled to win the grand prize for Everspace 2, which is endowed with 100,000 Euros. The award was presented to the winner by Michael Kellner, Parlamentarian Secretary of Games Minister Robert Habeck and Federal Commissioner for the Cultural and Creative Industry. The other two Best German Game nominees, Atlas Fallen by Deck13 und Fall of Porcupine by Critical Rabbit, each received 30,000 Euros.

Nevertheless, the three games that were nominated for the main prize did not receive any other awards at the ceremony. Instead, most of the prizes went to a newcomer: Ad Infinitum by Hekate from Berlin. The psychological horror game, set in the First World War and distributed by Nacon, won three awards and a total of 140,000 Euros: Young Talent Award Best Debut, Best Story and Best Audio Design. For the first time, an award was presented in the Best Story category. The Best Expert Game category had been dropped as it was "unable to develop a sufficiently distinct profile". Bavarian Minister President Dr Markus Söder (CSU) handed over the prize for the Studio of the Year to Franconian developers Pixel Maniacs from Nuremberg.

The ceremony was moderated by Katrin Bauerfeind and Uke Bosse. Award presenters included comedian Marti Fischer, actor Özgür Karadenis, streamer Layna and journalist and author Ronja von Rönne. The awards gala is sponsored by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and the Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs on an alternating annual basis. Germany's Federal Government and game - the German Games Industry Association are the hosts of the award. In 2025, the Award Ceremony will once again take place in Berlin.

Michael Kellner, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action said: "I would like to congratulate all of the winners on their great games and the awards they have received. This year's DCP particularly demonstrates the wide range and creativity of games developed in Germany. This enormous diversity and creativity must be expanded further, and the potential of the industry must be utilised even more. As the Federal Government, we want to make an important contribution to this through our new games funding. The funding is to help ensure that games such as this year’s best international game also go on to be developed in Germany."

Felix Falk, Managing Director at game - the German Games Industry Association said: "The outstanding winning titles this year are an impressive demonstration of the great achievements that German game developers continue to produce. Once again, the German Computer Game Awards are proof of the creativity and innovative spirit of the German games industry, even in the difficult economic situation of recent months. Once again, we can see the huge potential of Germany as a location for the games industry, especially as this year there were more games made possible by federal funding than ever before. This shows that the right framework conditions unleash the true power of studios in Germany. Congratulations to the winners of the German Computer Game Awards 2024!"
