Benjamin Rostalski is Head of Culture at Stiftung Digitale Spielekultur and Head of the Award Office at the German Computer Game Awards (Deutscher Computerspielpreis, DCP). As part of our interview series along the DCP in which we also talked to jury head Sabiha Ghellal, we interviewed him on the jury selection, how the award process works and why the jury is built up the way it is.
How does the appointment of jury members work? How are they selected, and what are the requirements for selection?
The jury members are appointed by the organisers, game - The German Games Industry Association and The Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR). Each jury member is appointed on behalf of their expertise, while making sure the jury represents a wide variety of representatives of the German games industry – from AAA to indie studios, as well as representatives from the fields of media, research, education, and from other parts of society with a game expertise.
