Bounty Star is a third-person, 3D action game combining mech combat and customisation with farming and base building. Players control Clem, a disillusioned soldier and experienced mech pilot. In the Red Expanse, a post-post-apocalyptic version of the American Southwest, she hopes to overcome her feelings of guilt and find redemption. This fertile agricultural and trading region is plagued by criminals and beasts, and it is precisely these enemies that Clem fights against as a bounty hunter.
In the game, players control a customisable combat vehicle/mech that can be equipped with various attack systems, enabling them to adapt their playing style. These systems include heavy melee weapons, steam-powered hydraulic siege weapons and explosive firearms. A range of defence systems is also available, including high-speed drives, acceleration engines and tactical deployment shields. Mech combat stands out for its weighty, deliberate feel, where timing, heat management, weapon cooldowns and mobility create tactical encounters against opponents who unfortunately lack variety.

The somewhat choppy battles, which are not quite as intense as those in Armored Core, are interspersed with farming sections. A remote, dilapidated workshop serves as the player's base of operations. There, they are responsible for supplying and maintaining the mech, as well as growing crops and raising animals. The switch between fast-paced action and farming is creative, although it could have been executed better. Furthermore, the game struggles with repetition due to limited mission variety and bounties.
"To say Bounty Star is a passion project for the team at Dinogod is an understatement. Ever since I became enamoured with mechs as a kid, I wondered what it would be like to live the life as a mech pilot, both the exhilarating thrills of being in the heat of the battle, and the quieter downtime between each conflict. Bounty Star is the realization of that pilot fantasy. We hope players fall in love with Clem as much we loved writing her and the rich world of the Red Expanse." - Ben Ruiz, Founder of Dinogod and Director of Bounty Star
The game has been developed by Dinogod, a game development company headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, which was founded in 2019. In addition to providing consultation and contract services, the team makes video games, board games (Age of Angra) and card games (Pocket Dunj). The publisher of Bounty Star is Annapurna Interactive, an independent multi-platform media company and content studio founded by Megan Ellison in 2011. Its portfolio includes Stray, Outer Wilds, Storyteller and What Remains of Edith Finch, as well as the upcoming titles Mixtape, Silent Hill: Townfall, The Lost Wild, We Kill Monsters, and more.
Bounty Star was released on 23 October 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, priced at €23.49. It is also available on Xbox Game Pass.
Bounty Star boasts a solid foundation and engaging battles, but falls short due to repetitive elements and a lack of variety.
