Caggtus Leipzig Remains on Track for Growth With a New Record
With 22,400 visitors and 2,300 participants at the LAN party, Caggtus in Leipzig has set a new record for its key figures in 2026 as well. That is one of the reasons why the date for 2027 has already been set.
The growth in one of the core areas compared to 2025 in particular is likely to please the organisers at Leipziger Messe. With more than 2,300 participants, Caggtus – and thus Leipzig – is and remains the largest LAN party in the German-speaking world. The event itself originated as the successor to Dreamhack Germany when the partnership with the Dreamhack organisers came to an end because they wished to continue the event in Germany at a different venue.
Leipzig Trade Fair, which had already organised the gamescom predecessor GC – Games Convention in the 2000s, made a virtue of necessity and set up its own event entirely without a partner: Caggtus.
“The gaming festival by the community for the community – that is the formula for success that sets Caggtus Leipzig apart. “Once again this year, we felt a unique atmosphere in the exhibition halls,” explains Markus Geisenberger, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe. “From the participation of international publishers to the greater variety of indie games, as well as new areas and more visitors – we’ve had a fantastic festival weekend!”
Caggtus also saw growth in traditional visitor numbers, which this year climbed above the 20,000 mark for the first time, reaching 22,400 to be precise. The numerous activities in the trading card games sector were also a key part of Caggtus this year. The partnership with Webedia for Find Your Next Game (FYNG) was also continued and expanded, leading to numerous new announcements, including Shadowdorps.

In view of this positive development, plans are already underway for next year. The event will take place from 9 to 11 April, with the LAN party starting, as usual, a day earlier, on 8 April. You can find this and all other dates in the GamesMarkt event calendar.
And when it comes to LAN, caggtus has big plans for 2027: “We are continuing the steady growth of Caggtus in the LAN sector too – we still have space for further rows and are seeing a fantastic response from the community,” says Constantin Strobel, project director of caggtus Leipzig.
