HBK Essen Becomes Unreal Academic Partner

As only the third institution in Germany and the fourth in the GSA region, the Hochschule der Bildenden Künste (HBK) Essen gets accepted into the Academic Partner programme of Epic Games. A representative of the company will test the students' games at gamescom as well.
The Hochschule der bildenden Künste (HBK) Essen is now part of the Unreal Academic Partner Programme of Epic Games. It is now the third academic partner of Epic in Germany apart from the Pixl Visn media arts academy in Cologne and the University of Bremen, and the fourth in the GSA region, with the FH Salzburg in Austria.
As part of a new cooperation, Unreal Engine will be used more intensively in future in courses and research in the Game Art and Design (B.A.) degree programme at HBK Essen.
HBK Essen is also celebrating the timing of the recognition, shortly before gamescom, where an representative of Epic Games will play the games at the academic area in Hall 10.2, booth A-015a. "At gamescom, we will also be playing our students' games together with a representative from Epic Games and planning further steps in the collaboration," explains Patrick Schnorbus, lecturer on the Game Art and Design (B.A.) programme at HBK Essen. "Once again, we were able to demonstrate the high practical relevance of our broad-based artistic and scientific work."
