Following the expiration of part of the presidium’s term of office, the eSport Bund Deutschland (ESBD) has elected a new president. Christopher Flato, stepping into the role, has outlined ambitious goals for 2025.

Christopher Flato, who previously served as 1st Vice President of the ESBD, was unanimously elected as the new president. His predecessor, Daniel Luther, chose not to run for re-election. “We would like to thank Daniel Luther for his commitment to the board and look forward to the tasks ahead for the association, as well as working closely with the board,” Flato said regarding the leadership transition.

Sandra Kilian, a long-time supporter of the team in the ESBD office and now responsible for the association’s financial development, was elected as the new 1st Vice President. Matthias Remmert was re-elected as Vice President. Meanwhile, the terms of the other two Vice Presidents, Martin Müller and Daniel Paulus, will continue until the end of 2025, as they were not up for re-election.

The ESBD Arbitration Board also underwent re-election. The newly appointed members are Prof. Dr. Anne Jakob, Dr. Holger Jakob, and Dr. Nepomuk Nothelfer. The Arbitration Board acts as a neutral body, resolving disputes between members of the association or between members and the ESBD itself, prior to any ordinary legal proceedings.

"We have already positioned ourselves very well in recent years and realigned our strategy. We have set ourselves ambitious goals for 2025, which on the one hand will drive the further development of the association and on the other hand should make the breadth and diversity of esports in this country more visible," said Flato. "A particular focus remains the issue of non-profit status, which, after years of political promises, must now finally be implemented. In addition, we are equally focused on strengthening Germany's role in global e-sports. We will support Germany's international participation in the Olympic Esports Games to represent the interests of players, teams and organizers in our industry."

During the general meeting, significant steps were taken to shape the association’s future. These included comprehensive updates to the statutes and the adoption of a new association definition for e-sports. This definition, developed in collaboration with the scientific advisory board, will be published shortly.
