Three weeks before its launch, MAG-C has unveiled further details of this year’s festival program. Alongside the new VTubing section, a competition in the Indie Games category will also be held for the first time.

Contests are a key feature of the community event MAG-C. However, the organizers are expanding beyond the cosplay realm, which has long been a cornerstone of MAG-C—short for manga, anime, games, and cosplay. This year, the Cosplay Contest and Show Cup will be joined by not only photography and videography competitions, but also the first MAG-C Indie Award, where German indie studios can present their projects. The award will be presented across multiple categories and judged by a panel of experts, including Uke Bosse, Fabian Döhla, and Maxim.

Another new highlight at MAG-C is the VTubing area. According to the organizers, this addition reflects MAG-C’s ability not only to recognize emerging trends but also to actively shape them. A press tour is also scheduled for the convention’s opening day. It remains unclear whether prominent political figures will attend this year. In previous editions, dignitaries such as Wolfgang Tiefensee, then Thuringia’s Minister of Economic Affairs, were present. In 2024, there was a change in the government of the federal state.

The 2024 edition of MAG-C in Erfurt attracted 11,800 visitors and 110 exhibitors, both increases from the previous year.
