Like devcom, this year's gamescom congress will move to the new Confex conference centre in Cologne. The organisers expect more participants and better networking opportunities. New programme formats are also planned.

Just like devcom, gamescom congress 2024 will take place for the first time at Confex, the new conference centre on the grounds of Koelnmesse. The new location will allow more guests to attend the congress, as the previous venue, the Congress-Centrum Nord of Koelnmesse, was unable to grow due to limited space. The new location in the southwest of the exhibition centre will also improve the connection to the gamescom business centre and the ICE train station Köln Messe/Deutz.

The gamescom congress aims to show that computer and video games are more than just entertainment. Using practical examples, the congress will show how education, culture, business and science can benefit from the innovative power of games. For the first time, the congress will focus on the topics of "Games and Artificial Intelligence" and "Games and Democracy". For example, answers to the following questions will be provided on two new stages: How can games strengthen our democratic coexistence? What contribution do games make to democratic discourse? How can AI be used to curb fake news and hate speech? What potential does artificial intelligence open up for the economy and society through games? The rest of the programme will be divided into "Science & Education", "Economy & Innovation" and "Society & Culture". Details of the programme will be announced soon.

The congress is aimed at a wide range of experts from the fields of education, culture, media, politics, business, science and the games industry. New programme formats such as roundtables and speed-dating will be introduced this year to enhance the exchange. Confex is expected to contribute to more interaction and better networking, as the event will take place on one floor for the first time, on Conference Level 2. In addition, the gamescom congress will become more digital, allowing attendees to connect with other congress guests prior to the event.

The 16th gamescom congress will take place on 22 August 2024 in Cologne. Ticket prices remain unchanged. The trade visitor ticket still costs 103 Euros (38 Euros reduced).

The gamescom congress is Europe's leading conference on the potential of games in a digitalised world and offers interfaces beyond the digital and media industry. It takes place annually as part of gamescom in Cologne and is organised by Koelnmesse GmbH and game - the German Games Industry Association.
