Crimson Desert was released for PC and consoles on Thursday, 19 March 2026. The game, which had amassed over three million wishlist entries prior to its release, surpassed the two-million-copy sales milestone on Friday. On Steam, Pearl Abyss's game reached 248,530 concurrent users, making it the third-highest concurrent user (CCU) peak of the year, behind Slay the Spire 2 (574,638) and Resident Evil Requiem (344,214).

In addition, Pearl Abyss has announced its intention to respond quickly to player feedback and media reviews. The first patch, released today, included bug fixes and initial improvements, such as the addition of a storage facility at Howling Hill, as well as the beginning of enhancements to keyboard and mouse controls. "We will continue to continuously improve the controls for controllers as well as keyboard and mouse in the future," the statement continues. They are currently working on compatibility and optimisation support so that the game can be played on Intel Arc GPU systems too.

Finally, they announced that they will remove all AI-generated art from the game, as it was never intended to be included in the final version. Artworks found on walls in houses, for example, were quickly identified by players as AI-generated. "We are currently conducting a comprehensive audit of all in-game assets and taking steps to replace any affected content. Updated assets will be rolled out in upcoming patches. In parallel, we are reviewing and strengthening our internal processes to ensure greater transparency and consistency in how we communicate with players moving forward."
