Radical Fish Games Releases Demo of Alabaster Dawn
Alabaster Dawn, the second game from CrossCode creators Radical Fish Games, is currently available for public playtesting. The demo on Steam has already received an extremely positive response.
Radical Fish Games, based in Saarbrücken and best known for their retro-inspired 2D action RPG CrossCode, has released a demo of their next top-down, 2.5D action RPG, Alabaster Dawn. This demo version consists of two parts. The first part features the beginning of the game. Any saves made in this section will be compatible with the full version of the game. The second part skips ahead in the story to showcase several highlights, including part of a dungeon. Any saves made in this section will reset to the end of the first section when loaded into the full game. Playtime is around 1.5 to 2.5 hours. All 169 user reviews are currently positive.
Radical Fish Games: "Speaking of Early Access, we made good experiences with that concept during CrossCode development, so this will once again be our plan with Alabaster Dawn! However, we want the first release you actually pay for to be well-polished and contain a satisfying amount of content so we are expecting that to happen in the first half of 2026."
The game, which has the working title 'Project Terra', received €764,434 in funding from the German Federal Government's computer games funding programme (period: 15 February 2022 to 14 August 2025). The game is expected to be self-published by Radical Fish Games. Deck13 Spotlight was involved in publishing CrossCode.
"Alabaster Dawn is an Action RPG building on top of the best aspects of Radical Fish Games' previous title CrossCode, featuring a deep and engaging combat system, challenging puzzles and an epic story set in a curious world full of secrets to discover and places to explore," the developers said.
Radical Fish Games was founded in early September 2010. Their first game was CrossCode, which was programmed in JavaScript and makes use of a heavily modified Impact Engine that utilises HTML5. They started crowdfunding on Indiegogo in 2015, soon after releasing the Early Access version. Following a number of delays, Radical Fish Games finally released CrossCode for PC in 2018, published by Deck13 Spotlight. The game was released for consoles in 2020, and the DLC CrossCode - A New Home came out in 2021.
