Today's Nintendo Direct featured a new smart device app called "Nintendo Today!" and Virtual Game Cards, which simplify digital game management and allow players to lend or borrow games between multiple Nintendo Account family group members.

Nintendo has announced Virtual Game Cards. This is a new feature that allows players to manage purchased digital games, play games on two different systems, and even lend or borrow games. "Similar in concept to moving physical game cards between systems, virtual game cards make it possible to 'eject' a purchased digital title from one Nintendo Switch system and 'load' it onto another - whether it belongs to a member of the same Nintendo Account family group, or a second system tied to your account. This optional feature allows you to view virtual game cards or eject them from your system", Nintendo said.

The digital game can also be lent to a Nintendo Account family group member's system via a local wireless connection. Games that you lend can then be played on a Nintendo Account family group member's system for two weeks, after which the game is automatically returned to the owner. This feature will be available on Nintendo Switch via a hardware system update at the end of April. In addition, Virtual Game Cards will also work with Nintendo Switch 2 systems at launch.

There is also a new mobile application that delivers Nintendo content to smart devices. This app is like a daily calendar that delivers a variety of content, including news, videos and comics about Nintendo games and characters from selected franchises. Following the Nintendo Direct presentation of Nintendo Switch 2 on 2 April, information about the Switch 2 will also be available directly on the app. Anyone with a Nintendo Account and a compatible smart device can use the free app. "Nintendo Today!" will be available for download from the App Store and Google Play later today.
