Dispatch is a single-player superhero workplace comedy where every choice matters. Players take on the role of Robert Robertson, also known as Mecha Man. Once a celebrated superhero, his mech suit was destroyed in battle. This forced him to take a desk job at the Superhero Dispatch Network (SDN). Players must manage a dysfunctional team of misfit heroes, deciding who to send to emergencies around the city. They must also navigate office politics and personal relationships while pursuing justice against their old arch-enemy and striving to become a hero themselves.

The game offers a unique, cinematic-driven gaming experience, combining sharp conversations, emotional decisions and absurd humour. Structured like a TV series, it consists of eight episodes, each one building on the previous one. This represents a modern continuation of the narrative style of earlier Telltale Games titles. Each episode is estimated to last approximately one hour. The gameplay combines outstanding animated dialogue scenes with puzzles and decision options that influence the course of the story. "In Dispatch, every decision you make influences the unfolding narrative. From banter in the breakroom to life-or-death situations in the field, your choices affect your relationships with the heroes, their allegiances, and the path your own story takes", says developer AdHoc. The characters, storyline and decision-making options are outstanding, making the game highly engaging. Of course, all these options also affect replayability.

Players take on the role of a dispatcher, assigning superheroes to missions based on their individual abilities. Alternatively, they can deliberately send the wrong heroes on different missions. Therefore, it is crucial for players to weigh up the risks and rewards, bearing in mind that every decision they make can have a lasting impact on the team and the city. Each hero has quirks, flaws and baggage that players will need to navigate in order to keep the team together. Players can also upgrade their heroes' skills and unlock abilities to boost their effectiveness in the field. There is also a mini hacking game.

The characters in Dispatch are voiced by a remarkable cast of actors, voice artists, comedians and content creators from the worlds of gaming and entertainment. Those featured include Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Laura Bailey (The Last of Us Part II, Critical Role), Erin Yvette (The Wolf Among Us), Jeffrey Wright (Westworld), Travis Willingham (The Legend of Vox Machina, Critical Role), Alanah Pearce (Cyberpunk 2077), Matthew Mercer (Critical Role), MoistCr1TiKaL, Jacksepticeye, Lance Cantstopolis, Joel Haver and Thot Squad.

Dispatch is the first game from AdHoc Studio. Founded in late 2018 by former developers from Telltale Games, Ubisoft and Night School Studio, the company is based in Los Angeles, California. Team members have worked on titles such as The Walking Dead, Tales from the Borderlands and Minecraft: Story Mode, and The Wolf Among Us, so it's no surprise that Dispatch is another narrative adventure featuring meaningful choices and strong dialogue in an episodic format. Nick Herman, Creative Director and co-founder of AdHoc Studio, says: "We designed Dispatch so that people can play it, watch it, and discuss it together. Some of our favourite gaming moments happen when you compare decisions with friends. We hope this series will encourage those kinds of conversations."

When announcing the serial format, Nick Herman said, "We believe that the release format is an underrated part of the gaming experience. The episodic format makes the story easily accessible and easy to follow, as well as being easy to share with friends. We want the launch of Dispatch to become 'appointment gaming', with a weekly rhythm like that of a TV series, rather than making players wait months for the next release."

The multi-platform entertainment phenomenon Critical Role, which started out streaming D&D games, is also involved in Dispatch as a partner. They are supporting the development of the Dispatch brand, including merchandise, tabletop games, and an animated series that is planned. The collaboration started when Travis Willingham - Critical Role's CEO and a cast member - auditioned for Dispatch and was captivated by its storytelling and style. In addition to working with Dispatch, Critical Role is collaborating with AdHoc Studio on a video game set in the world of Exandria, which features in Critical Role's stories.

Dispatch is available on PC for €28.99 and on PlayStation 5 for €34.99. The first two episodes have been available since its release on 22 October 2025, with the remaining six episodes to be released weekly until November. These will be released in double packs. The finale is scheduled for 12 November 2025. All episodes are included in the purchase price.
