Dungeons of Dreadrock 2 - The Dead King's Secret, created by Christoph Minnameier, is coming to Switch today and PC next week. For Minnameier, the preparation for the game launch came in the middle of a period of career uncertainty. At least the signs for his game look promising.

Christoph Minnameier (Pig Knight Games) is releasing Dungeons of Dreadrock 2 - The Dead King's Secret on Switch today, with the PC version following a week later on 5 December. After being nominated for the gamescom Award, but losing the public vote to Genshin Impact, the puzzle dungeon crawler has already won a devcom Award (Mobile Marvels), two Tencent GWB Awards (Small Teams in Gold and Portable Joy) and a DevGAMM Award (Best Mobile). The first reviews are also optimistic, especially as the last few months have not been easy.

"I was really excited and nervous as the launch approached, but now that the first reviews are out, I'm much more relaxed. And that’s a relief, because the last few months have been incredibly intense. The game already had a solid overall structure, but I could never have brought it to the level of detail it has now - if I hadn't been unexpectedly laid off three months ago. At the moment, I'm not entirely sure what's next: I'll definitely stick with games, but I'm still deciding whether to return to teaching or focus fully on my work as a developer - with all the opportunities and risks that might involve," says Christoph Minnameier, who was a professor of game design at mdh (Mediadesign Hochschule München) for ten years.

Minnameier released the first part of Dungeons of Dreadrock in early 2022. The game was a winner at Google Play Festival Europe and was also nominated for the German Computer Games Awards 2023 (DCP) in the categories "Best Game Design", "Best Family Game" and "Best Mobile Game" and won the award for "Best Mobile Game". Christoph Minnameier started Dungeons of Dreadrock as a solo developer and then joined up with pixel artists Fabian J. and Dmytro Dudko.

Description of the game: "Dungeons of Dreadrock - The Dead King's Secret is Part 2 of the (yet unfinished) Dreadrock Trilogy. In this episode you'll puzzle and fight your way through the ancient cavern parts of Dreadrock Mountain. The game features 100 levels, 5 bosses, two different endings and tons of adorable pixel art."
