The E-Sport Bund Deutschland (ESBD) is continuing to expand its political work and is strengthening the relevant structures within the organisation. The ESBD has announced the appointment of two new and, above all, experienced Political Communications Officers.
Johanna Schmid has gained experience in recent years at organisations including G2 Esports and Ubisoft Berlin. She is moving to the ESBD from PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she worked in the Gaming & Esports Advisory division.
Maurice Lange, meanwhile, has over 15 years’ experience in esports, where he has made a name for himself as a professional caster under the name Mori. He is also politically active within the Alliance 90/The Greens party.
Alongside these new appointments, the association is also reorganising its communications departments. Matthias Konen, who has played a key role in building up the Public Affairs division in recent years, is leaving the association but will continue to contribute his expertise in an advisory capacity. Consequently, the Association Communications and Public Affairs departments will now be merged. The division will be headed by the former Head of Association Communications, Aleksandar Kovacevic.
“I would like to express my sincere thanks to Matthias for his outstanding work over the past few years. In particular, his commitment to the charitable status of esports has provided important impetus and had a lasting impact on the political perception of our sport. I am therefore all the more delighted that he will continue to support us with his experience. At the same time, I am delighted to welcome Johanna and Maurice, two such competent and dedicated individuals, to the team. Both bring different yet perfectly complementary perspectives to the table. Together, we will take our political work to the next level,” says Kovacevic.
