With regard to the development of the Taiwanese gaming market, Side also describes the new office as a strategic move. According to the company, Taiwan is one of the top 15 markets worldwide and has a gaming base of almost 14.5 million people. "Our opening in Taipei today is not just another studio opening, it’s a commitment to Taiwan’s gaming industry and the innovative team we have here,” said Deborah Kirkham, CEO of Side. “Side has always been at the forefront of change, and our Taipei team is no different – the focus of 2026 will be on doubling down on our award-winning talent and leveraging our AI solutions for the betterment of our clients”.

Side Taipei's focus is on QA and localisation. However, the studio will also be involved in other cross-functional projects. The location is managed by Frank Chang. “We are seeing the global gaming industry in flux right now, but the Asian market is continuing to grow across console, PC and mobile gaming. Our region consistently finds ways to innovate and pivot, and most importantly, keep players playing. We built Side Taipei at an East-meets-West crossroads; people in Taiwan are deeply immersed in East Asian and American cultural content across games, film, TV, and streaming. That cultural fluency, combined with our strengths in QA, Localization, and LQA, means we’re built to deliver for partners across console, PC, and mobile. There isn’t a better team to do it,” says Chang.

Side is a globally active external development and service provider for gaming based in London. However, its roots lie in Japan, where its parent company PTW Holdings (Pole to Win) is also based.
