Federal funding worth 1.16 million euros for gameXcite
Hamburg-based company gameXcite has received almost 1.2 million euros from the German government's computer games funding programme. The funding will support the production of "Galactic Journey". This is the second grant for this project.
gameXcite from Hamburg is receiving funding of 1,163,249 euros from the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection for the production of "Galactic Journey". The duration is specified up to 14 February 2025. The project had already received 98,116.00 euros from the federal funding, but because this was only a four-month period, it could have been the prototype of the game.
The company has so far worked on "Asterix & Friends" (2021), "Idle Asterix" (2022) and "Asterix & Obelix: Heroes" (2023). "Asterix & Friends" benefited from federal funding of 200,000 euros. "Asterix & Obelix: Heroes" was funded with 309,807 euros. "Galactic Journey" is described so far as a Rouge Lite premium console game.
gameXcite is a wholly owned subsidiary of Jumpgate AB. The company recently signed a licensing agreement with Paramount Consumer Products for the use of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager for an upcoming PC and console game. It is possible that "Galactic Journey" will be this Star Trek game.
Harald Riegler, CEO of Jumpgate AB, said of securing the Star Trek licence: "We are delighted that gameXcite is working on one of the world's biggest science fiction IPs, which spans numerous episodes, movies and books and captivates audiences on TV and streaming platforms every day," said Harald Riegler, CEO of Jumpgate AB. "Our team is not only experienced in handling licensed titles through their work on the Asterix games - including the upcoming "Asterix & Obelix Heroes" - but is also made up of die-hard Star Trek fans who want to deliver an in-depth, story-driven game that puts players:in the captain's chair!"
