Finals of the 2023 e-sports federal state championships in Schleswig-Holstein
The E-Sport Association Schleswig-Holstein is pleased with the results of the 2023 E-Sport State Championships. These federal state championships, which are unique in Germany, are set to remain an integral part of northern Germany's e-sports location in the future.
The 2023 E-Sport State Championships organised by the Schleswig-Holstein E-Sport Association (EVSH) came to a successful conclusion on 25 November with the finals in the regional capital of Kiel. This state championships, which are unique in Germany to date, were organised for the second time. The event was supported by the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein, the Schleswig-Holstein Sparkassen, Schleswig-Holstein Netz and the merchandise shop getDigital.
Project manager of the state championships and EVSH CFO Daniela Stahl: "In 2023, we were able to reach a new level for the state championships and their participants: We have convinced more partners of the regional tournament, mapped another title for the talents and upgraded the live final in a new location with a diverse supporting programme. We are very proud of this success and are delighted that we were able to create such a unique experience for the players." She also gives an outlook for 2024: "From now on, the state championships will be an integral part of Schleswig-Holstein as an e-sports location. We want to offer the e-athletes in the region the opportunity to prove themselves on the big stage again in 2024 and to be recognised for their achievements."
115 participants competed in four titles this year: "EA Sports FC", "League of Legends", "Super Smash Bros. Ultimate" and "Rocket League". All games were livestreamed by the State Centre for E-Sport and Digitalisation SH and watched by a total of almost 1,300 spectators. The live final took place at the MAX night theatre in Kiel in front of a live audience. In addition to the matches, gaming and e-sports partners offered a broad programme on site, ranging from cosplay and casual gaming to merchandise competitions. Representatives from the scene, press, politics and the public, such as State Secretary in the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of the Interior Magdalena Finke, were among the more than 200 e-sports enthusiasts.
