Games founders from Berlin and Brandenburg can now apply for the 3rd edition of the "Start-up: Games Entrepreneurs" programme. The application deadline is 24 June. For the first time, the programme will also be offered in English. Event co-operations with gamescom and Games Ground are planned.

The programme teaches individuals and teams of up to five people the basics of starting a business through a holistic approach of workshops, one-to-one mentoring and networking opportunities. Tailored to the needs and requirements of the games industry, it will be offered in English for the first time this year.

The kick-off workshops will take place on 15 and 16 July 2024, with further workshops scheduled from mid-September to mid-December and the final event in January 2025. The programme is run by the Foundation for Digital Games Culture (Stiftung Digitale Spielekultur), and funded by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. Applications will be accepted online until 24 June 2024.

"After the successful establishment of "Start-up:Games Entrepreneurs" in cooperation with Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg over the past two years as a point of contact for indie studio founders in Berlin and Brandenburg, we now want to make the programme even more attractive to a broader target group. By organising the programme in English, we also want to do justice to the realities of game development here," says Melanie Fussenegger, who is responsible for the programme at the Foundation.

This year's mentors are Marcus Grühser (Finance Director at Instinct3), Ruth Lemmen (Interim Management and Coaching), Michael Liebe (Founder and CEO of Booster Space), Ata Sergey Nowak (Co-Founder and CEO of Torpor Games), Irene Preuss (Independent Game Developer and Marketing Specialist) and Florian Rohde (Community & Player Support Lead at Yager Development).

In cooperation with game - Association of the German Games Industry - all participants will also receive free trade visitor tickets for this year's gamescom in Cologne. A cooperation with Games Ground is also planned in the form of a pitch event, which will take place as part of the festival from 14 to 16 November 2024 in Berlin.
