Daedalic Entertainment: Ambitious Plans for Multiplayer and Cooperative Games
At the Steam event "Four is a Party", Daedalic Entertainment is highlighting its ambitions in the multiplayer and cooperative gaming space, as COO Jonas Hüsges confirmed to GamesMarkt. Devolver Digital, Innersloth, Team17, Landfall, and Nacon are also participating in the event.
The "Four is a Party - The Multiplayer Party" event begins on December 9 and runs until December 16. During this period, various games from the multiplayer and cooperative genres will be available at discounted prices. Notably, the event, organized by Daedalic Entertainment, includes contributions from numerous other companies. Among the participants are Devolver Digital, Innersloth, Team17, Landfall, and Nacon. GamesMarkt spoke with Daedalic COO Jonas Hüsges about the event and, more specifically, the goals the Hamburg-based indie publisher aims to achieve within the genre.
Daedalic is participating in the Steam event "Four is a Party" with Wild Woods. What are your expectations for this event, and how do you view the current state of multiplayer/cooperative games outside the triple-A sector?
Jonas Hüsges: We're not just participating; we're hosting this event. Why? Because we're the leading name in multiplayer party games, and we want to reinforce that position. Some of the biggest indie hits in recent years fall into this category—think Overcooked, Among Us, as well as our own hits like Unrailed and Barotrauma. However, these games don't always get the attention they deserve. We want to provide a platform for them and plan to expand this format in the years to come.
What opportunities do multiplayer/cooperative games offer Daedalic as an indie publisher?
It gives our developers the opportunity to build a community and support a product over the long term. We see a market that is underserved—at least when it comes to fresh, innovative game concepts. These games work globally, across all platforms, and appeal to a very broad demographic."
Where do you envision Daedalic in the multiplayer/cooperative game genre five years from now?
As the top destination in this genre.
