gamearea Hessen to be dissolved and transformed into game Hessen

The former regional association of games companies in the federal state of Hesse, gamearea Hessen, will be dissolved and converted into the new representative organisation game Hessen. Under the umbrella of the game association, the new regional representative body wants to do more to promote the interests of the game industry.

During the general meeting of gamearea Hessen in Frankfurt, the decision was made to dissolve the regional association in its current form and transfer it to the new regional organisation game Hessen. With this step, the games companies in the federal state of Hesse want to take a stronger stand in favour of the industry's interests in regional politics under the umbrella of game - Association of the German Games Industry.

"In the ranking of federal states, Hesse ranks at the bottom as a games location according to the companies. In fact, the Hessian federal state government has recently done little to increase its attractiveness as a games location. Other federal states offer much more in this regard. With the new regional representation game Hessen, we can help to push for better general conditions and make demands to the new coalition in Wiesbaden in order to better utilise Hesse's great potential in the games sector," says game Managing Director Felix Falk.

The two previous gamearea board members Claudia Stricker from playzo and Jan Klose from Deck13 were elected as regional contacts. The new regional representation is inviting all games companies from Hesse to a round table in Frankfurt on 18 January 2024 to determine the industry's key political demands.

"The vote of the members of gamearea Hessen is clear: we want to take the next step and join forces. In this way, the local players can optimally benefit from the expertise and strength of the game association in order to finally make further progress in Hesse. The considerable progress made by the other game regional organisations shows that we can achieve more in this way, especially when it comes to political topics. Thanks to the reorganisation, we can now jointly represent a larger number and variety of companies in Hesse. "The games companies in Hesse need better regional games funding, clearly designated contact persons in the ministries and government departments as well as publicly supported network structures and initiatives like those that have already existed in other federal states for a long time.
