The organisers of the first ever gamescom LAN are pleased with the results. Almost 100 content creators and over 1200 LAN players were counted, as well as over 300 trade visitors.

It was the first new extension of the gamescom brand this year. Alongside gamescom latam, which takes place at the end of June, the gamescom LAN made its debut last weekend in Cologne. And the organisers consider it a success, even though the gamescom LAN, unlike the main gamescom event, still has a clear focus on Germany.

According to the figures, over 1700 people attended the event. Over 1,200 of these were registered as players for the LAN, where each row was run by a content creator organisation. In total, 93 creators and over 300 trade visitors attended the gamescom LAN.

"An overwhelming first gamescom LAN weekend lies behind us. Our fusion of a classic LAN party with the digital extension of almost 100 content creators, who reached millions of people at home with their streams live from the exhibition hall on all 3 days, worked brilliantly right from the start", said Dennis Gehlen, CEO and founder of TakeTV. In total, 834 hours of content were created over the weekend. By Monday evening, the community had watched almost 1.6 million hours of streams.

"The format of combining LAN culture and influencer culture worked brilliantly right from the start and shows us how much potential the idea has. The gamescom LAN has lived up to its name and created a second gaming highlight at Koelnmesse for the community of the world's largest games fair," said Cédric Schlosser, co-founder and managing director of MYI Entertainment, which organised the gamescom LAN with TaKeTV.

The licensors are also satisfied. Felix Falk, Managing Director of the German Games Association game, is delighted with the success of the first gamescom LAN and says: "The passionate commitment of all partners and the enthusiasm of the community could be experienced everywhere on site and in the streams. This is exactly what gamescom stands for". Oliver Frese from Koelnmesse also sees the gamescom family as having been expanded by an attractive event. "We are delighted that we were once again able to turn the exhibition grounds into a place for the gaming community and the games industry to meet and exchange ideas. We are now taking this positive momentum with us into the hot preparation phase for our gamescom in August".

Before gamescom in August, however, gamescom latam will make its debut in São Paulo from 26 to 30 June, expanding the gamescom brand to the American continent. Following the main show in Cologne from 21-25 August, the now well-established gamescom asia will take place in Singapore from 17-20 October.
