Bereits im vergangenen Jahr dünnte das Finanzpolster von Lizenzprovider 4Kids Entertainment aus. Dieser Trend hat sich in den ersten neun Monaten 2002 fortgesetzt. Doch das 3. Quartal verlief besser.

4Kids Entertainment hat in den ersten neun Monaten 2002 rund 27,2 Mio. Dollar Nettoumsatz erwirtschaftet. Damit liegt der Lizenzprovider um 4,1 Mio. Dollar unter dem Ergebnis des gleichen Vorjahreszeitraums. Hatte das Unternehmen damals noch einen Nettogewinn von zehn Mio. Euro bilanziert, schrumpfte dieser von Januar bis einschließlich September 2002 auf 4,7 Mio. Euro. Bereits im gesamten  hatten sich die Finanzmittel von 4Kids verringert. Nur das Ergebnis für das 3. Quartal 2002 fiel besser aus: Der Nettoumsatz stieg von 9,9 Mio. auf zwölf Mio. Dollar, der Nettogewinn von 1,5 Mio. auf zwei Mio. Dollar. Daher gibt sich CEO Al Kahn zuversichtlich: "Wir sind mit den Ergebnissen zufrieden, da sie positive Trends in unserem Business reflektieren." Besonders die Nachfrage nach Produkten zur 4Kids-Lizenz  sei stark.
