Maschinen-Mensch is yet another award-winning German studio to close its doors. Although the Berlin-based company hopes to make a comeback, it is initially focusing on supporting its team members in their search for new opportunities.

The latest release from Maschinen Mensch, a studio founded eleven years ago, came out just four months ago: Mother Machine was their most ambitious project to date. And it was their last, at least for now. "We are incredibly proud of our team for realizing this grand vision. However, like many of our peers, we are struggling with the current economic environment in the games industry and have been unsuccessful in securing follow-up projects", writes Maschinen Mensch on its website. "Therefore, with heavy hearts, we have made the difficult decision to put Maschinen-Mensch into hibernation for the foreseeable future."

Studios looking to hire are asked to contact the Berlin-based company, as they would like to support their exceptionally talented team members in finding new opportunities.

Regarding games, the studio has announced that all titles – Mother Machine, Curious Expedition 2 and Curious Expedition – will be available in digital stores and will remain playable.

Maschinen Mensch was founded in 2014 by Riad Djemili and Johannes Kristmann, two former employees of Yager Development who had worked on Spec Ops: The Line, among other titles. Over the years, Maschinen-Mensch has been nominated for and won several awards. As part of the ‘Saftladen’ collective, the studio was also involved in the Berlin indie scene.

Unlike other well-known teams such as Studio Fizbin and Mimimi Games, the founders of Maschinen-Mensch have not completely closed the door on the studio: "We hope to return in the future. Until then, farewell," their statement closes.
