Berlin-based indie studio Grizzly Games is celebrating over one million copies of Thronefall sold by releasing a final content update to mark the milestone. The two-person team will now focus on a new game.

Thronefall, developed by Berlin-based Grizzly Games, has sold over one million copies. It is available for PC and Nintendo Switch. The minimalist strategy game about defending a small kingdom without "unnecessary complexity" and with a "healthy dose of hack-and-slay" has also received over 18,000 positive (96%) reviews since its initial launch on Early Access in August 2023.

"When we set out to make Thronefall, we never would've thought we'd sell over a million copies," says designer Jonas Tyroller. "We're really thankful for that incredible milestone, so we wanted to give back to our passionate community. Working on this game continues to be a treat, so we hope everyone enjoys the hard work we've been putting into making this an even better experience."

To celebrate this sales milestone, Grizzly Games has released the (final) 2.11 update with 12 new mini modes, such as the True Endless mode or the Reverse Siege mode where the player is the attacker. The update also brings several quality-of-life enhancements: a game-speed hotkey, automatic detection of controller versus keyboard controls, support for some additional controller devices, improved localisation (Korean, Italian, Ukrainian and Czech), colour-blindness settings and bug fixes. The new mini modes will only be coming to PC, with no currently planned release on Nintendo Switch.

When asked what's next, Jonas Tyroller and Paul Schnepf say: "A new game. The content for Thronefall is hereby officially complete. We'll continue to support the game with bug fixes, solving urgent issues whenever and if they occur, but besides that we're excited for new adventures."

Grizzly Games is a small Berlin-based indie studio best known for Superflight, Islanders and Thronefall. The team met and developed Islanders during their time at the HTW Berlin, where they studied game design.
