Im Rahmen der E3 wurden in diesem Jahr zum dritten Mal die Interactive Achievement Awards für die besten Spielekreationen des vergangenen Jahres verliehen.

Im Rahmen der E3 wurden in diesem Jahr zum dritten Mal die Interactive Achievement Awards für die besten Spielekreationen des vergangenen Jahres verliehen. Gastgeber des Abends war Jim Charne, President und Executive Director der Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS). Als Moderatoren führten die US-Schauspieler Martin Short und Delroy Lindo durch das umfangreiche Programm. Zum Preisträger des Academy Hall of Fame Awards wurde Hironobu Sakaguchi, President von Square USA, ernannt. Sakaguchi wurde besonders für seine Verdienste um die Interactive Entertainment-Branche sowie für die federführende Mitarbeit an der erfolgreichen "Final Fantasy"-Serie geehrt.
