Kreatives Sachsen, the competence center previously organized as a project of the State Association of the Cultural and Creative Industries of Saxony (Landesverband der Kultur- und Kreativwirtschaft Sachsen e.V.) since 2017, is restructuring. Starting in 2026, Kreatives Sachsen will operate as a limited liability company (GmbH). This is made possible by a structural grant of 1.38 million euros from the Saxon Ministry of Economic Affairs and Labor under Dirk Panter.
“With our support over the past few years, the State Association and its Kreatives Sachsen project have established a recognized service center for the industry that contributes significantly to strengthening Saxony as a hub for the cultural and creative industries. This institutional funding opens up a long-term, predictable outlook from which we expect positive effects for the industry and beyond,” says Minister of Economic Affairs Panter. “Creative professionals act as ‘boosters’ for other industries—through design, storytelling, digital content, or creative tech—and thus accelerate economic and technological change. Saxony benefits twice from a strong cultural and creative sector: it is an important economic factor, and it enhances the Free State’s appeal. At the same time, due to its structure, the sector needs targeted support, whether in networking, professionalization, or for greater visibility.”
In addition to supporting creative professionals, regional development and cross-sectoral cooperation are to take center stage in the future. Although Kreatives Sachsen has not previously been explicitly involved in the games sector, software and games development is one of the 12 sectors of the cultural and creative industries that Kreatives Sachsen aims to support.
