With effect from 1 July 2025, Stephan Steininger, Marcel Kleffmann and Pascal Wagner have acquired all assets of the GamesMarkt brand. They are also responsible for sales and production of the B2B trade fair magazine gamescomDaily.

For GamesMarkt, the management buy-out marks the start of a successful continuation as an independent company. The new shareholders, editor-in-chief Stephan Steininger and Senior Editors Marcel Kleffmann and Pascal Wagner, will take over all current subscription commitments and will produce future issues independently, as well as the gamescomDaily planned in collaboration with Koelnmesse.

"We are delighted that Stephan Steininger, Marcel Kleffmann and Pascal Wagner are ready to take on responsibility for the GamesMarkt brand. We are convinced that, thanks to their experience and commitment, GamesMarkt will continue to thrive in the long term," says Torsten Glatz, Managing Director of BG Germany.

"We would like to thank both the insolvency administrator, lawyer Daniel Zumhasch, and his team, as well as Managing Director Torsten Glatz, who always kept the long-term interests of the creditors in mind during the difficult restructuring of the publishing house, with the aim of finding a profitable and sustainable solution," said Steininger. "We are convinced that the agreement reached after intensive, open-minded negotiations is the best solution for the creditors, but also for the brand and its employees. Together with Marcel and Pascal, we are now looking ahead and focusing on the opportunities that the international games market offers despite the current tense situation."
