For the first time, a German film production is getting an official game on Roblox. The experience, developed by Build A Rocket on behalf of Studiocanal, is to be positioned over the long term via a YouTube campaign as more "Woodwalkers" movies are planned.

Studiocanal and Build a Rocket are planning an activation on Roblox for the cinema release of "Woodwalkers". According to the company, this is the first time that a German film production has an official game on Roblox.

The Roblox experience Woodwalkers: The Obby Trials was developed by the Cologne-based agency Build a Rocket, which designs, plans and implements campaigns in the world of esports and gaming for various clients. The game is to be established on Roblox in the long term. Accordingly, regular content updates are planned. This in turn fits in with the film plans: "Woodwalkers" is the first part of a trilogy based on the successful book series by Katja Brandis.

To ensure a successful launch, Studiocanal and Build a Rocket are planning a YouTube campaign in which well-known German YouTubers will present the game. One of them is AwesomeElina, who has more than a million subscribers on YouTube.

"Especially at the start of a multi-part franchise, we are looking for suitable ways to bind fans to the brand in the longer term and to expand it. We are excited to be able to break new ground here and, in this case, are particularly pleased about the first official Roblox game for a German film production and a successful collaboration with Build a Rocket," says Lutz Rippe, Co-Managing Director of Studiocanal.

And Tobias Heim, Managing Director of Build a Rocket, adds: "By merging film and gaming, we not only offer fans the opportunity to experience the world of Woodwalkers interactively, but also strengthen the sense of community. The game becomes a virtual meeting place that promotes exchange and interaction within the community and accompanies the film series in the long term."

The Woodwalkers novels tell the story of the shape-shifting boy Carag, half human, half mountain lian, during his time at Clearwater High. The series, in which eleven novels have been published in two seasons - the final novel of season 2 will be published in January 2025 -, has sold more than 2.8 million copies in Germany to date and has been translated into 24 languages. There are also various spin-offs and a separate season of “Seawalkers,” in which the tiger shark shifter Tiago plays the lead role.
