At Meta Connect 2024, Meta has shown its new AR glasses called Orion, currently in prototype stage, and as expected the Meta Quest 3S. Several updates to AI software and Meta's Ray-Ban cooperation have also been announced.

At the current Meta Connect 2024, Facebook mother Meta has announced a range of new hardware products as well as software updates, mostly focused on XR.

First and foremost, the company showed Orion, a pair of augmented reality glasses. These are supposed to project AR environments in a 70 degree angle before the user’s eyes. Orion's input system combines voice, eye and hand tracking with an EMG wristband. The glasses are currently at prototype stage, being rolled out to Meta employees and selected external target groups.

Further into the VR space, the Meta Quest product line gets a slim version with the Meta Quest 3S. The leaner version of the Quest 3 has a retail price of 329,99 euros and comes with a 128 GB drive. For a limited time, Camoflaj’s and Oculus Studios’ Batman: Arkham Shadow will be delivered with the purchase.

A slew of AI updates have also been announced at the conference. Meta AI is getting a voice update, while the open source model Llama gets its 3.2 version. The Ray-Ban cooperation Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses is getting several AI updates, among them live translation in several languages. A new limited edition of the Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarer Shiny Transparent has also been shown.
